Welcome to the Upson-Lee Learning Academy

The Upson-Lee Learning Academy offers a non-traditional pathway to graduation for those students who are at risk of not graduating from high school within four years of their ninth-grade entry date.

Students enrolled at the Learning Academy may earn all of the remaining credits they need for graduation at the Learning Academy, or they may decide to spend their time at the Learning Academy earning enough credits so that they may return to Upson-Lee High School at the beginning of a semester or the next school year. In order to earn a diploma through attendance at the Learning Academy, students must satisfy all graduation requirements that are in place for equivalent Upson-Lee High School students. A student who meets all local and state requirements for graduation will be eligible to receive an Upson-Lee High School diploma. These requirements include all appropriate state-mandated testing requirements. Diplomas will be awarded as soon as it can be verified that all necessary graduation requirements have been met.

Students, along with parents and Learning Academy staff, will develop a student life plan that includes academic planning as well as post-secondary planning. Students at the Learning Academy will participate in a mentoring program and will meet with Academy personnel to review their academic progress regularly.

The Learning Academy is open year-round, Monday - Thursday 2:30 - 7:00 p.m. Certified teachers are on-site from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday to assist students.
